Bill Foussard, a member of the Board of Directors for Cerenity Senior Care in Saint Paul, was recently named Board Trustee of the Year by LeadingAge Minnesota. 

Andrea Boedigheimer, Resident Assistant at Carondelet Village in Saint Paul, was recently named the Caregiver of the Year by LeadingAge Minnesota. Andrea received her award at last week’s Institute & Expo, accompanied by a standing ovation and a rousing round of applause from the nearly 2000 attendees that filled the room. 

The Connection, a Perham community resource for seniors led by Perham Health, received a 2019 Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Trailblazer award for community innovation.

Shelley Kendrick, currently Ecumen’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed to succeed Kathryn Roberts as President and CEO, effective Feb. 4.  

It is with a heavy heart that we share that Bob Armitage, a respected leader, mentor and friend, died peacefully on Jan. 5 in the company of his family.

Katelyn Reichow, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Friendship Village in Bloomington was named the 2018 CNA of the Year by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP).

The LeadingAge Minnesota Board of Directors welcomed four new board members during its November meeting: Jerry Carley, President/CEO, Benedictine Health System; Kristi Kane, Director, Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging; Katie Lundmark, Executive Director, Ecumen-Detroit Lakes; and Tom Nielsen, Vice President and Long-Term Care Operations and Administrator, Northfield Retirement Community.  

More than 100 Nursing Assistants on the Minnesota Registry have been trained using the OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training curriculum. With a pass-rate trending 5 percent higher than the state average, we are happy with the continued success of OnTrack in the program’s inaugural year.

Augustana Care and Elim Care last week announced their new name: Cassia. The name evokes both organizations’ commitment to healing, wholeness and their quest for solutions that help those they serve to live well.  

LeadingAge Minnesota extends our deep appreciation and gratitude to Bruce Glanzer, CEO/President of The Good Shepherd Community in Sauk Rapids, for his years of dedicated service to our field and our association. Bruce has announced his retirement effective Jan. 11. Mike Stordahl, who has served as the Administrator at Clara City Care Center, has been named the new CEO/President and will join the Good Shepherd team on Jan. 2.
