MNSCU Train the Trainer Not Required for OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training

Posted on November 7, 2018 by Jenna Kellerman

Nursing Assistant Training programs in Minnesota each offer their own unique Train the Trainer programs, requiring the RN to take the training that is associated with the curriculum they are preparing to teach. The OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training program offers its own unique, online and on-demand Train the Trainer program. OnTrack RN Trainers DO NOT take the MNSCU training.

See the direction from the Minnesota Department of Health Nursing Assistant Registry below.

(Section 1(e) of How to Start a Nursing Assistant Training Program):

(e) OnTrack Nursing Assistant Training, developed by Minnesota’s LeadingAge Foundation, powered by EduCare curriculum:

Minnesota RN with a minimum of two years of licensed nursing experience in the US, at least one year which must be in provision of long term care facility services in the US. Total nursing experience can be as an LPN but must currently be a RN.

This curriculum contains a Train the Trainer component. Please call 651-425-1110 for the online RN instructor Train the Trainer for the OnTrack curriculum.

As we developed OnTrack, we spent a lot of time listening. Members expressed barriers with other Nursing Assistant Train the Trainer courses as they have historically been taught, challenging LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation to do something different.

Members suggested that our new program eliminate barriers for RN Trainers, such as travel, frequency of the course offering, class sizes, and the in-person classroom requirement.

At OnTrack, we were happy to take on this challenge! OnTrack RN Train the Trainer offers the program exclusively online and on-demand, with supportive tools, exams, and an individualized telephone consultation with our OnTrack facilitator. This program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Health.

One OnTrack RN Trainer stated, “I recently completed the RN Train the Trainer portion and loved it.”
