Fall Nurse Lunch and Learn Registration

Assessment Before Calling the Provider

Sep 30, 12:00pm - 12:30pm

Nurses are the first clinical eyes on a resident before any provider call. This session covers what to check and document before you dial. You'll learn what data to gather so the call moves fast and gets the resident real answers.

Learning Objectives
• List the vital signs, symptoms, and baseline data to gather before calling a provider about a change in condition.
• Name three common gaps that lead to incomplete or delayed provider guidance.
• Use a quick checklist to organize findings before making the call.

SBAR Refresher

SBAR is easy to know and easy to get sloppy with. This session walks through each piece again. Situation, background, assessment, recommendation. You'll practice building a tight SBAR you can deliver fast and with confidence.

Learning Objectives
• Name the four parts of SBAR and what each one is for.
• Tell the difference between assessment findings and a recommendation.
• Build an SBAR statement for a sample resident in under two minutes.

Managing Your Shift: Communications from the Licensed Nurse to the ULP

A good shift runs on clear direction. This session covers how licensed nurses hand off tasks to ULPs. What to say, how to confirm they got it, and how to follow up when the task is done.

Learning Objectives
• List the information a licensed nurse must give a ULP when delegating a task.
• Describe how to confirm a ULP understood the instructions and knows when to report back.
• State the licensed nurse's ongoing responsibility for a delegated task.
